Steel Beams
Steel Beams with an I- or H-shaped cross-section are known as H Section Sleeper Supports, I-beams and H-beams. The web is the vertical element while the flanges are the horizontal parts of the "I". The web is designed to resist shear forces on the beam while the flanges are designed to resist any bending or movement experienced by the beam. The I-shaped section is very efficient for resisting both bending and shear loads.
